Established in 1982 by Phil Trahadias, Atlantis Photo has the technical experience and helpful staff to provide you with the highest quality photo finishing. Formerly with WTKR-TV as supervisor of the photographic department, Phil brings over forty years of experience to Atlantis Photo. He had training and schooling in processing of color products, chemical mixing, densitometry and interpretation of control plots. He was one of four people in the nation to trade test a new hi-speed color process for Eastman Kodak Company. In photography, he received two awards at the American Television Commercial Festival in New York for filming toy commercials and received three awards in the state of Virginia for commercial filming.

Atlantis Photo was a test sight for Eastman Kodak in testing B/W Polycontrast III paper. In 1987 Phil's son Paul joined the company continuing the family tradition of photo finishing. In 1990, Atlantis evolved from primarily E-6 & B/W lab, into a full service color printing and digital lab. In June of 1995, Atlantis delved into the digital world. Once Atlantis began offering digital services, the staff and the customers knew the world of photo finishing would never be the same.

Atlantis was 1st in the area to offer high-resolution film output in 120 & 4x5 film sizes in 1996. Atlantis then changed the way people perceived high-resolution film scanning and offered it at an affordable price in 1997. In February of 2000 Atlantis finally received its Chromira Digital photo printer, the seventh one in the country, another 1st for Hampton Roads. In 2003 another 1st for Hampton Roads, Online! Complete viewing, ordering and printing solution for professional wedding photographers.
